On Friday, November 18th, the members of the Topspin Racquet and Swim Club enjoyed a great night of tennis, food and good fun thanks to Carlos Lozano, Director of Tennis. The events which included a doubles clinic, mixer, dinner, exhibition, and silent auction raised over $1200 to “Help Japan both Today and Tomorrow”. Thanks again to everyone who came out to support a great cause! Mission A2J is holding another great fundraiser in Columbia, SC at the Topspin Racquet and Swim Club on November 18th from 5:00pm. The day’s events will include a tennis clinic, dinner, exhibition, and silent auction to help the victims of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.
Schedule of events
5:00-6:15pm- Doubles clinic
6:30-7:30pm- Tennis Mixer
7:45pm- Pro Exhibition
Silent Auction will close 10 minutes after exhibition is completed.
Note: you do not have to participate in the clinic to do the mixer. You can do both or either one, or just come to eat, drink, and watch tennis. See Cost options below.

Thank you to Coach Chris O’Brien and the students of Connecticut College for holding a benefit tennis tournament for Mission A2J. Over 25 players came out to enjoy a day of tennis for a great cause. The Mission A2J team truly appreciates everyone’s efforts in helping the people in Japan over seven months after the tragedy in March.
On July 20th, Mission A2J’s Tom Shimada participated in a clinic and exhibition to help open the brand new Dr. Eddie Floyd Florence Tennis Center. Special thanks to the new Director of Tennis, Brian Parkkonen, for inviting Mission A2J to be a part of the celebration. Through a silent auction, Mission A2J was able to raise almost $1,500, and during the exhibition, WTA pro Nicola Slater and two Francis Marion players, Jack Bishop and Jit all wore Mission A2J t-shirts! Congratulations to Brian and the City of Florence!
On Saturday, July 16th, Mission A2J and Wild Dunes Resort helped raise over $11,000 for the victims of Japan. About 80 people enjoyed a doubles clinic, BBQ dinner, and pro exhibition hosted by Mission A2J’s Tom Shimada and Wild Dunes Director of Tennis, Charly Rasheed, after which a donation of $10,000 was made to the American Red Cross on behalf of Mission A2J. The day’s events ended with a silent auction with over 30 items. Thanks to Charly Rasheed, Director of Tennis, and his staff at Wild Dunes Resort, Mission A2J is proud to announce another great event on Saturday, July 16th to help raise funds and awareness for the people in Japan. The event will include a 3 hour doubles clinic and round robin, followed by dinner, a pro exhibition and silent auction. The cost is $50 per person which includes a Mission A2J t-shirt or if you would like to come for the dinner and exhibition only, then it is $15 per person (Kids under 12 eat free!). Come and join the fun at the Hilton Head Island Pro Tennis League at Palmetto Dunes this Friday, May 13th at 6:30pm. Week 3 will feature 6 matches of the island’s best pros going on simultaneously in conjunction with the SC Senior State Championships. Mission A2J will be selling T-shirts and wristbands while Tom Shimada will be playing #1 doubles for the Island Family Dental team! See you there!
